Pictured above and below are drawings of the CNC machine that I built, the beginning of my exploration into digital fabrication. The machine displaced half the floor area of my tiny student dorm room, so naturally, I slide the bed underneath, where it would remain, and where I would sleep for the following 2 years.

My Mission

At 5J5 design, my mission is to create personal, customizable goods that truly resonate with the user—pieces meant to be cherished, not discarded. We live in a world where mass production has flooded our lives with things: items that either break quickly, become obsolete, or were never meaningful in the first place. These objects clutter our homes, fill landfills, and leave us with little more than fleeting satisfaction. I believe there’s a better way—one that honors quality, longevity, and the stories we carry. My goal is to craft items that become part of your journey—treasured for years, passed down through generations, and imbued with personal significance.

Personally, I’m obsessed with building my environment. But of course not everyone shares this builder’s impulse—and that’s the beauty of our diverse world: we each have our own calling. Not everyone needs to build their environment to create one that feels personal and meaningful. That’s where 5J5 design comes in. As a maker, I see it as my responsibility to design systems that invite you into the creative process—so you can shape the things you bring into your life without needing to be the one who carves the wood or welds the parts. Every piece I make is an opportunity for you to personalize your surroundings in a way that reflects you.

Together, let’s move toward a future where our belongings aren’t just things, but reflections of who we are, what we value, and the stories we want to tell.

My Story

My journey into design and fabrication began when I was twelve, attempting to build my first guitar—a project that took far longer than expected but sparked a lifelong passion for creating. Since that moment, I’ve been driven by the challenge of turning ideas into tangible objects that resonate with people’s lives.
